Breast Augmentation, also referred to as augmentation mammaplasty, enhances and shapes the breast with implants placed either underneath the chest wall muscle or directly behind the breast tissue. Incisions are made to keep scars as inconspicuous as possible. Most implants are saline-filled with silicone shells.
Breast Augmentation can be performed as an outpatient. You will go home after your surgery wearing gauze wrappings and an ace bandage. A return office visit in 2-3 days is necessary for a checkup and dressing change.
Your recovery time will be minimal. Within the week, you will be permitted to gradually resume your normal activities. Most of the swelling will subside within several weeks and your final results will be apparent.
